Although Cafe Maurice opened in October 2010 by Ghassan Srour (Gus) and his Wife Therese Srour, the rich history of Cafe Maurice goes back to 1955 with a family owned French bakery in Lebanon named Patisserie Maurice founded by Gus's father Chef Maurice Srour. It is here that Gus learned the art of creating pastry from his father and worked in the family business.
After over 25 years of learning the art of creating pastries with his father, Gus and his family came to the United States
Shortly after moving to the United States, Gus and Therese opened a wholesale bakery called Patisserie Maurice in Wichita KS selling upscale French pastries to most hotels and restaurants in Wichita KS, Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
As the wholesale bakery began to flourish, the idea arose to combine their skills in creating French pastries and Mediterranean cuisine from Lebanon together.
Cafe Maurice was born shortly after. The tradition of carefully prepared, affordably priced meals has made Cafe Maurice a success in the Wichita area since opening.
